746 Sunset Park

746 Sunset Park is named after the garment factory where the artist’s mother worked after immigrating from China in the 1990s. Family photographs, naturalization forms, and piecework production charts printed on silk organza are stitched together, constructing a layered narrative of immigrant labor, displacement, and loss. The tapestry collages family ephemera from that period, cutting names, figures, and walking paths out from the surface. The projection light shines through to illuminate the invisible figures from behind the tapestry.

Photographs and moving images overlap without fully aligning, echoing the fragmentation of memory and the instability of archival records. The projection plays with the visual blurring, overlapping, and disintegration of memories by overlaying translucent projections and photographs on top of each other.
